CSUDCSUDH Amethyst Alpha Playoff Bracket – Fall 2024

New to CSUDH Esports is the FG Amethyst team. FG stands for Fighter Games, and the Amethyst team focuses on platform fighters meaning there are multiple elevations or levels for the characters to utilize in a match. The team had such a large amount of interest that they had to field 2 different rosters for Super Smash Bros. — one called Alpha and another called Omega. The Alpha team is the one highlighted here, and started the playoffs with a BYE, skipping right to semi-finals. The FG Amethyst team has been crushing the competition! The next match is the grand finals and is against Washington State on 12/2. FG Amethyst also competes in the NECC and have actually reached the finals in that division as well!

CSUDH Sapphire Playoff Bracket – Fall 2024

he popularity of Valorant has been rekindled at CSUDH in Fall 2024, boasting 2 new Valorant teams. One of those new teams is Valorant Sapphire, and they clearly came to play. The team began playoffs ahead of the competition with a BYE week based on their exceptional round robin performance. During the entire season, Valorant Sapphire has not lost a single map in any of their official matches! The BYE week meant starting playoffs in the semi-finals. They won that match decisively against KSC with a 2-0. Next up is the grand finals match against RIT on 12/3! Can they keep the streak alive?

CSUDH Cardinal Playoff Bracket – Fall 2024

The CSUDH Cardinal Overwatch team is one of the longest standing CSUDH Esports teams on campus. Starting 5 years ago in 2019, the continued iterations of the roster has resulted in the star-studded lineup we currently have today. The captain, Cesar “Wickytrix”, has worked his way through the Compton Unified School District esports league before attending CSUDH and playing for our team at the collegiate level. The CSUDH Cardinal Overwatch 2 team has multiple players in the Top 500 of North American, and currently competes in the highest level of competition offered by Playfly and various other collegiate leagues. They started playoffs with a match against EMU winning a decisive 3-0. The team then moved on to the semi-finals match against RIT, which provided a nail-biting finish resulting in a 3-2 win for the Toros! Next up is the grand finals against another highly ranked collegiate Overwatch team: Cumberland University. It’s sure to be an exciting match!

CSUDH Esports had 19 teams competing in the Fall 2024 semester. We are extremely proud of the incredible hard work and dedication all our teams have put in during this season. Our students continue to expertly balance the rigors of a college curriculum with their passion and love for video games and competition. That work culminated in not 1, not 2, but 3 teams reaching the grand finals of their seasons. We cannot wait for these matches to get started! Go Toros!
